May 6

A night at the carnival.  I loved seeing the sheer innocent joy on the face of these children.

The night shot.

May 3

A Tuesday night of soreness. Good to be climbing though....

May 2
This photo was taken while I was on a stroll in the neighborhood.  If these boards could talk.

I am amazed as to how many memories have been lost somewhere in time over the past 27 years of my life.  It saddens me at times, yet they are all still a part of me and helped shape me into the person I currently am.

To me life is like writing a song.  I can choose Major or minor, decide when/if I want to change keys, insert motifs and sequences, etc...But yet so much of it is about timing.  You can't force chords and melodies into a place they don't belong.  There needs to be a flow, not rushed.

We may not know what the final piece will sound like, but we are the ones writing it... I wonder what all of our songs sound like thus far?

April 30

Our friends were having a house warming open house.  They have a beautiful farm with a lot of potential. I wish them the best of luck.

My thoughts exactly.

April 2

My friend Georgia and I decided to take advantage of the rather gloomy day and head out on a photo walk downtown Grand Rapids.  There are a lot of abandoned buildings/factories which are always a blast to take photos of.

We also "discovered" the antique hotspot downtown.  I'm not usually one that goes to antique shops to buy something but if I have my camera the shops transform into a place I could spend hours in. If antiques could talk...

April 1

So I realize that my monthly theme idea isn't working as well as I had hoped.  There is no excuse.  2011 is going by too fast already and I can't seem to keep up with it.  There are too many things I want to work on and photography seems to be the area that is receiving the short end of the stick.  Thankfully though I have been able to show a couple of my travel photos at WMCAT along with other faculty.

March 22

Tonight was the Kentwood Art Show at WMCAT.  While that show was wrapping up, Leanne and I headed over the the GRAM to see other artwork from different Grand Rapidian students ranging in age and grade from K-12.  Seeing this gallery full of art and creativity lifts my spirits.  We need to encourage youth to continue to develop these talents and gifts.

Art work by a 6th grader.

March 21

Another oops day.  Really..I have to stop this....

March 20

Tonight was a bittersweet night. It was the final concert for the Bach Festival in Grand Rapids, and the choir I participated in, The Bach Chorale, performed selections of Telemann, Cimarosa, and of course, Bach.  It was great singing in a choir saturated with talented musicians.  Unfortunately the short season came and went all too quickly, but hopefully I will be blessed again sometime soon to be a part of another talented choir.

I have also been training for the Grand Rapids Triathlon.  My training plan is staring at me every morning and night to remind me how much work I still have to do...
